Namibia
The route ran north to Etosha, west into the rock of Damaraland to look for black rhino and desert elephant, down to the Atlantic at Walvis Bay where the dunes walk into the sea, south to Sossusvlei, and finally east into the Kalahari.
It is a country that keeps handing you the same two problems: an animal too far away, and a landscape too large to put in one frame. The pictures that worked are mostly the ones that gave up on both — that let the animal be small, or took the colour away until only the shape was left.
